It's All About Freedom
A 2 track broken beat single (9m 47s) — released April 19th 2024 on First Word Records
First Word Records is very proud to bring you 'It's All About Freedom', the second single from Quiet Dawn's forthcoming album 'Celebrate'.
French multi-instrumentalist Quiet Dawn has been an integral part of the First Word family for a full decade now. His diverse catalogue has included organic ambient-jazz (2018's 'Human Being - The Short Story Of The Reed'), Dilla-esque instrumental beats (2023's 'Simple' beat tape), head nod Hip Hop (the 2015 debut album 'The First Day') and broken beat (2022's 'Movements' EP).
The forthcoming album from Quiet Dawn (real name Will Galland) takes on an array of broken beat flavours and features a few luminaries from that scene along the way (to be revealed!).
This second single is a 5-minute blast of uplifting jazzy samba-tinged bruk. An infectious piano riff, accompany rhode stabs, squelchy synths, a funked-up bassline, a percussive rythym track and a joyous vocal call from Galland, and his partner Pauline. A celebratory groove if there ever was one.
Previous support for Will's output has included a wide range of formidable selectors such as Laurent Garnier, Rampage, Tall Black Guy, Kev Beadle, Dom Servini, Kid Fonque and many more, whilst previous collaborations have included Makaya McCraven, Oddisee and Ohmega Watts; testament to the quality and breadth of Quiet Dawn's compositions and production talents.
'It's All About Freedom' will be available digitally worldwide on April 19th 2024, with the album 'Celebrate' pencilled for an early Summer release.
