Rainmaker

A 3 track soul single (11m 51s) — released March 11th 2016 on First Word Records

Rainmaker is the second single from Sarah Williams White's debut album 'Of The New World'. The South London born-and-bred singer and producer is part of the exciting musical community from her corner of the capital that includes the likes of Henry Wu, Mo Kolours and her brother Paul White. A multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Sarah cites influences including Jamie Liddell, Erykah Badu and PJ Harvey as well as more contemporary acts such as Jamie Woon and Thundercat.

The album has picked up praise from all corners with radio plays from Lauren Laverne, Tom Ravenscroft and NPR, as well as support from The 405, Clash Mag and The Independent On Sunday who described it as a 'coolly confident debut'. Rainmaker is a great introduction to Sarah's sound - intricate, layered vocals over subtle, skittering beats and deceptively catchy hook. To round out the package we've roped in fellow South Londoners FYI Chris for a house-tinged rework in typically idiosyncratic fashion. They are joined by Wah Wah 45s' Paper Tiger who bring some hip hop swagger to proceedings blending understated synths with tough beats. Look out for Sarah's live show this summer, with festival appearances already booked in for Soundwave, Dimensions and The Funk & Soul Weekender with more in the offing.
